
A fatal collision in Spring Hill led to a road closure as police conducted an investigation early Friday morning, Dec. 27. WSMV reports that the crash occurred just after 6:30 a.m. on Port Royal Road, between Jim Warren Road and Saturn Parkway, involving a pick-up truck and a car. The 25-year-old driver of the car died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The Spring Hill Police Department, estimated the road closure would last at least four hours following the incident. The assessment of the wreckage, and ensuing inquiries into the cause of this tragic event, compelled the closure for a several hours, leaving commuters to seek alternate routes.
According to a statement from the Spring Hill Police Department, obtained by WKRN, the affected portion of Port Royal Road did not reopen until just after 12:30 p.m., several hours after the crash initially took place. The police did not immediately release any additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash or the identity of the deceased.
The police department has not commented on the factors that may have contributed to the accident, as their investigation is presumably still underway.
