
A chilling episode of theft unfolded in Penrose as a 24-year-old man became the victim of a carjacking on the night of December 22nd, according to a report by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The incident, which took place near Shirley Place & Dryden Avenue, has prompted an investigation by District 6.
A young man was ambushed Monday night after being lured to a meeting with an online acquaintance. Around 9 p.m., while waiting in his 2012 Audi A6, a group of five to six armed individuals surrounded his vehicle. The victim, who alerted authorities, was unharmed in the attack.
Complying with the assailants' demands, the victim vacated his car and watched as the perpetrators drove off in it, his mobile phone still inside, turning an ordinary meeting into a nightmare. The police have since been working to get to the bottom of this crime, calling on the community for information that could lead to recovery and arrests.
The authorities seek the help of any individual who could shed light on this crime, offering the incentive of anonymity and a potential cash reward for tips proving fruitful.
