A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a shooting in Ivory Park yesterday morning. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's District 5 responded to a call just before 10:40 a.m. in the 800 block of Belt, where they discovered the youth with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, as detailed by SLMPD's official statement.
Emergency Medical Services quickly transported the teen to an hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The area surrounding the scene was swiftly cordoned off as the investigation got underway, with detectives working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the violence and the potential suspects behind it.
As the investigation is ongoing, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist. A plea for anonymous tips has been issued, offering the potential for a cash reward for details that lead to an arrest.
Officials have stated on the SLMPD website, "Anyone with a tip about this incident who wants to remain anonymous and is interested in a possible cash reward for their tip should contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477)." Tips can also be submitted directly to detectives at 314-444-0001, but only those provided through CrimeStoppers that result in an arrest are eligible for the promised rewards.
