A St. Louis woman faces serious charges following an alleged assault on Christmas Eve. According to the St. Louis County Police Department, Mahkya Anderson, 25, has been charged with first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, and first-degree burglary.
The incident unfolded this past Tuesday when Anderson, accompanied by her boyfriend and an unidentified third accomplice, reportedly broke into an apartment after forcing the front door open. In the ensuing altercation, a victim was stabbed and cut with a bladed weapon by Anderson, as alleged in the report. While in the struggle, the co-defendant restrained two other victims, causing them pain, to prevent them from aiding a third victim. They later fled the scene but were subsequently apprehended by law enforcement. Anderson is currently held without bond.
"On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the Defendant and her boyfriend, co-defendant, and a third individual broke into victim's apartment," states the probable cause statement obtained from the St. Louis County Police Department release. The declaration further details that the "Co-defendant admitted to being involved in a fight with the victims," and police found evidence of forced entry at the victim's apartment. The victims involved in the incident positively identified Anderson and her co-defendant.
