
Yesterday, St. Lucie County Fire District firefighters responded quickly to a residential fire in the 300 block of North 13th Street in Fort Pierce. The fire, reported at 8:33 a.m., sent heavy smoke and flames from the back of the building. Firefighters rescued two dogs and a turtle during the operation, as reported by CBS12.
All residents, including three adults and two children from two families, escaped without injuries. The displaced families are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. According to a follow-up report by TCPalm, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The St. Lucie County Fire District has reported that none of the animals or residents suffered any significant harm.
