
A 14-year-old was shot early today during a gathering of teenagers in downtown Fort Lauderdale, shortly after an event at a local club. According to CBS News, witnesses described the chaotic aftermath of the gunfire, and the victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fort Lauderdale police responded to the 200 block of Southwest Third Avenue around 1:29 a.m. after a gunshot was heard in the crowd. According to Local 10, authorities have not identified a suspect or made any arrests. The teenager received medical attention and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
The area, known for its bars and nightclubs, was crowded with young people when the shooting occurred. A witness told CBS News, "We heard one shot go off. I did not know it was a gunshot at the time. People were running all around." Evidence markers and a bloodied T-shirt were seen on the sidewalk before being cleared.
