A teenage suspect is now in police custody following the fatal shooting that occurred early this month outside of a Murfreesboro Pike after-hours club. The Nashville Metro Police Department (MNPD) has reported that 15-year-old Yariel Sandoval from Clarksville has been arrested for the murder of 18-year-old Ashley Dominguez which took place on December 1.

According to a detailed account by MNPD, it was the conjunction of efforts from multiple agencies and departments that allowed them to quickly apprehend the juvenile. A Community Safety Center operator played a key role, managing to swiftly capture critical video footage of the incident. Witnesses have claimed that a heated argument escalated outside the club, leading to shots being fired into a vehicle that had five individuals inside, including Dominguez who was sitting in the rear passenger seat.

Ashley Dominguez was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries. Two other women, both 19 years of age, were also wounded in the shooting but have since been treated and released from medical care. The precision of the investigative work has not gone unnoticed, showcasing a seamless synergy between agencies. "Outstanding coordination between Homicide Unit and TITANS Unit detectives, along with MNPD Community Safety Center operators and Clarksville Police, led to last night’s arrest," the MNPD statement outlined.

Sandoval was apprehended in Clarksville and is facing charges including criminal homicide among other related counts. As the investigation actively continues, police are looking into the possibility of there being other individuals involved. "Quick action by a Community Safety Center operator at MNPD Headquarters aided in capturing video footage of the fatal shooting and allowed for Sandoval to be developed as a suspect," noted the official MNPD news release.
