
A 19-year-old was shot in the leg during a robbery last night in Dutchtown, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. in the 3200 block of Chippewa Street. The young man, whose identity has not been disclosed, reported that he was walking home from eating out when two male suspects accosted him and demanded his body bag.
The victim complied, yet, the suspects still proceeded to shoot him before fleeing the scene. In a statement obtained by SLMPD, the teen relayed he "handed over his bag and then the suspects fired gunshots at him, striking him in the leg." Emergency medical services were called, responding to the scene, and the injured teen was taken to a local hospital. As of the latest report, he is listed in stable condition.
As investigations continue to shed light on this violent encounter, the district's law enforcement is actively seeking information from the public. The SLMPD is urging anyone with a tip about the incident to come forward. Those who wish to remain anonymous may do so and might be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
