Early this morning, a residential area in Hialeah was the scene of a police chase that ended with the detention of two teenagers linked to a car theft. Hialeah Police, responding to a call at around 3 a.m., found a black 2024 Cadillac Escalade had been taken from a Miami home and abandoned near West 14th Avenue and West 39th Place, according to NBC Miami. The theft set off a pursuit involving the vehicle’s owner and police forces, including the Florida Highway Patrol, who tracked its movements until the suspects left the vehicle.
The two arrested individuals, Jakari Ford and Rakeem Hughey, are both 19 years old, according to police records. The arrests followed a perimeter search for the suspects involved in the vehicle theft, with authorities still looking for the other two suspects, as reported by Local 10. Officers have been engaging with residents and requesting doorbell camera footage to help locate the remaining suspects.
Police confirmed the recovery of the stolen SUV, which was reportedly taken from the driveway of a residence in the 11000 block of Westwood Lake Drive in Miami. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
