
In a string of events that rattled a Southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood, police have arrested three suspects following the theft of an ATM on Friday afternoon. According to KFOR, one suspect brazenly entered a convenience store near SW 22nd and S Agnew Avenue and made off with the ATM, which was reportedly small and unsecured. The individual is also said to have compelled the store owner to assist in carrying the machine outside, also snatching the proprietor's phone in the process.
Later that day, the culprits were apprehended at the intersection of NW 50th and Meridian Avenue after McIntyre Law Chopper 4 spotted the suspects, as News 9 reports. In a remarkable discovery, authorities found a baby in the car during the arrest. Details on the suspects' identities have not been disclosed at time of reporting.
The stolen ATM was later found discarded in the 600 block of Southwest 27th Street, KOCO mentioned. The device's contents and whether any cash was missing remained uncertain following the retrieval of the machine.
In a coordinated effort with Warr Acres officers, a traffic stop led to the suspects' detention. It was revealed that one of the individuals was armed during this unexpected heist, intensifying the circumstances around the theft. However, the quick response by law enforcement brought an end to the escapade, although the shock to the community lingers.
