Gwinnett County is investigating a series of storage unit burglaries involving over 100 units across two facilities. The incidents started at a storage facility on Old Norcross Road, where more than 60 units were broken into last Wednesday and Friday. Three suspects are now facing charges related to the burglaries, according to a report from FOX 5 Atlanta.
Detectives identified a U-Haul truck linked to 21-year-old Shusune Arrington from Union City after it was spotted on security camera footage. This truck was later found at another facility on Five Forks Trickum Road on Tuesday, following a suspicious person report. Arrington and 26-year-old Teshauna Lovett from Atlanta were inside the truck, while a third suspect, 33-year-old Niquay Dexter, also from Atlanta, had already fled. The second burglary involved an additional 55 units being broken into, as detailed by WSB-TV.
Arrington and Lovett were arrested for seven counts of second-degree burglary. Dexter, who is still on the run, faces similar charges. Police have recovered $20,000 worth of Dewalt tools, which have been returned to the owner. They are still sorting through more stolen items found in a U-Haul.
