A grim discovery in Tunica County, Mississippi, has led local authorities to investigate an incident they currently consider to be a murder-suicide involving a married couple. As reported by Action News 5, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Jacks Avenue this past Sunday at 4:43 p.m., where they found Lonnie Nelson Jr., 52, and Vickie Lane Nelson, 53, both deceased with single gunshot wounds.
Further details from FOX13 Memphis indicate deputies were summoned following a relative’s request for medical assistance although, upon arrival, the couple was pronounced dead at the scene and two firearms were recovered from the house for forensic testing, with the investigation ongoing the sheriff's office has yet to disclose what may have preceded this tragic outcome.
Confirming the sad turn of events, Local Memphis added that the grim scene greeted deputies who responded to the emergency call around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, and the Nelsons' bodies were later sent to Jackson for autopsies, and while precise facts are yet to fully emerge, evidence at hand suggested the deaths as a result of a murder-suicide, no further details have been currently released, but the investigation remains active.
