A multi-vehicle crash and resulting car fire on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade has left two adults hospitalized and caused major traffic delays yesterday. According to Local 10 News, the incident took place in the northbound express lanes near Northwest 151st Street, with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirming that two individuals were transported to a trauma center.
The blaze was successfully extinguished by emergency crews however the accident led to the closures of several lanes as the cleanup ensued and investigation into the crash began, causing significant disruption to the traffic with authorities advising motorists to avoid the area. Drone images showed at least one of the involved vehicles was left charred, and another visibly damaged, as reported by NBC Miami.
The conditions of the hospitalized individuals have not been disclosed, and a third person received treatment at the scene without needing hospitalization. As crews worked to clear the scenes, northbound lanes were initially completely shut down before some were subsequently reopened to alleviate the extensive backups.
While the cause of the crash remains under investigation no details have yet been made public regarding the contributing factors that led to this high-impact incident, aerial footage from the scene showed emergency services in action and a burnt-out vehicle being hauled away on a flatbed truck amidst the ongoing traffic situation.
