In a significant move to support the Nordic Village Community Reinvestment Project, the Community Reinvestment Agency of Weber County (CRA) has inked Interlocal Cooperation Agreements with multiple public entities. The agreements with Weber County, Weber School District, Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, and Weber Fire District permit the CRA to capture a portion of tax increment revenues. This funding measure is designed to inject financial support directly into the Nordic Village Community Reinvestment Project, as part of a concerted effort to revitalize the area over the coming 15 years.
As reported by Weber County, the Resolution No. CRA06-2024 adopted by the agency outlines the specifics of the tax increment calculations by the project plan and budget. This development follows the statutory guidelines provided by the Utah Code Annotated about Interlocal Agreements. A window for public inspection is now open, allowing locals to review the agreements at the CRA's office as well as the offices of the involved taxing entities during normal business hours.
Community responses are inherently part of the process, and as such, 30 days following the notice’s publication has been initiated. During this window, stakeholders and community members can contest the agreement or the procedures adopted in its formation, should they believe any statutory requirements have not been met. After this period, contestation of the agreement or the disbursement and utilization of the tax increments by the agency is barred, effectively moving the project forward unchallenged, unless procedural errors are identified within the timeframe.
The Comprehensive Community Reinvestment Plan symbolizes more than just economic strategy, it taps into the heart of Weber County’s ambition to foster sustained growth and revitalization. Copies of the aforementioned agreements and resolutions are available, promising transparency in a procedure that beckons the prospect of redevelopment and community enrichment. Interested parties are encouraged to review these documents and participate actively in a process that will shape the demographic and financial landscape of their locale for over a decade.
