
A 16-year-old male has been charged in connection with a violent incident that took place in June 2024. The juvenile offender is facing serious charges, including one count of attempted murder in the first degree, one count of aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, and one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with discharge of a firearm, as reported by the Chicago Police Department. These charges followed an arrest made by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force on Monday.
According to a Chicago Police Department statement, the arrest occurred in the 1100 block of S. Hamilton Ave. The accused was identified as the individual who allegedly carjacked and shot a 49-year-old male in the 200 block of N. Latrobe Ave., in the city's 15th District. The incident, which led to the victim suffering critical injuries has been a point of investigation since the events unfolded on June 15, 2024.
The juvenile's detention hearing was scheduled at the courthouse located at 1100 S. Hamilton. As this case involves a minor, details surrounding the individual are limited due to regulations protecting the privacy rights of juveniles accused of crimes.
