The Worcester Police Department is currently piecing together the details of a tragic incident that claimed the life of a 71-year-old man. According to a recent release on the City of Worcester’s official website, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car shortly after 5 PM on Friday near 265 Lake Ave.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the elderly man had been hit by a vehicle after disembarking a bus and attempting to cross the street. A nurse, who happened to be at the location, was providing medical assistance before the man was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle involved was reportedly northbound on Lake Ave when the accident occurred, with the driver admitting to not seeing the pedestrian in time.
