
An 8-year-old girl and her 24-year-old aunt were accidentally shot in DeKalb County last Saturday night. The shooting occurred around 10:05 p.m. at their home on Panthersville Road when bullets were fired into the residence. The girl was hit in the ankle, and her aunt was struck in the leg and stomach. Both were taken to local hospitals and are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting last Saturday, as the victims are believed to not have known the assailants. DeKalb County law enforcement has been at The Villas at Panthersville, the site of the incident. The complex has been listed as "persistently dangerous," with 171 reported crimes since 2017, including homicides and aggravated assaults, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The DeKalb Police Department is investigating a shooting where unknown suspects fired shots into a home. "Initial information indicates the victims were in their residence when unknown persons fired multiple shots from outside into the residence," said Lt. Shane Smith. No arrests have been made yet, as stated by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
