A bicyclist lost his life in a collision with a vehicle in Hialeah Gardens earlier today at the crossroads of Okeechobee Road and Northwest 87th Avenue. The incident, involving a white Honda driving west on Okeechobee Road, occurred as the cyclist was attempting to cross the intersection, as per WSVN.
The tragic outcome left the cyclist deceased at the scene, the aftermath captured from above by 7Skyforce, showing the twisted remnants of the bicycle and the victim's body concealed beneath a tarp. A segment of the car’s windshield, was shattered, and its front-bumper sustained damage from the impact. The motorist remained at the scene following the collision and was observed cooperating with the troopers investigating the incident.
Additional details from a report by NBC Miami revealed that the victim was traversing Northwest 87th Avenue before attempting the fatal crossing of Okeechobee Road’s westbound lanes shortly before 7 a.m. As of the latest updates, charges against the driver were not immediately evident.
Authorities were forced to close westbound Okeechobee Road in response to the accident, directing traffic onto Northwest 87th Avenue while the investigation, continues. The identity of the bicyclist has not been released pending notification of next of kin, and the Florida Highway Patrol is handling the ongoing investigation into the crash.
