
Derek Ford, a 39-year-old resident of Dorchester, was arrested following a series of break-ins targeting ATMs and cash registers in Boston. The arrest, made around 4:15 PM on Tuesday near Thelma Road, followed a joint investigation by detectives from District B-2, C-11, and the Youth Violence Strike Force. Ford faces charges of Breaking and Entering and Larceny from a Building and will appear in Dorchester District Court, according to the Boston Police Department.
The incidents started on December 1, 2024, when Ford allegedly broke into an ATM at 9 Stoughton Street and stole money. On December 5, 2024, he targeted another ATM at 3 Neponset Avenue, where officers found burglarious tools. Ford also tried to steal from an ATM at 55 Hallet Street but was unsuccessful, and later successfully stole from a register at 282 Adams Street, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
Detectives in Boston linked a series of thefts to Ford, including a break-in on January 5, at 251 Bowdoin Street where he was caught stealing cash. Surveillance footage connected him to all six incidents. Ford’s arrest has led to further investigation, and additional charges are being considered as Boston police pursue legal action, as stated by the Boston Police Department.
