This temperature change is due to a weak cold front, which NBC Boston reports will cause a "little bump DOWN in temperatures."
On Sunday, expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 30s, though "a few flurries or a snow shower, especially in the Worcester Hills," may occur. On Monday, it will stay mostly sunny with highs around 36°F, a southwest wind of 8 to 14 mph, and gusts as high as 26 mph. A front on Tuesday brings squalls in the afternoon, with a high near 40°F, followed by a sharp drop to 17°F at night, as stated by the National Weather Service and NBC Boston.
