Boston Public Schools has launched a new website to improve the online experience for students, families, staff, and the community. The district's Office of Communications worked with web platform provider Finalsite to create a site focused on accessibility and ease of use, helping visitors find the information they need quickly, according to the City of Boston.
Superintendent Mary Skipper explained the redesign by saying, "Our new website reflects our commitment to transparency, accessibility, and engagement with our community." The redesign, based on data from the previous website, emphasizes academics and student life. This is the first step in a multi-year project to update the district homepage and more than 100 individual school websites, as reported by the City of Boston.
The new Boston Public Schools website is mobile-friendly, easier to navigate, and includes accessibility features like high-contrast options and better screen reader support. Boston Public Schools Chief of Communications Chris McKinnon said, "We designed our new website with our students, families, and staff top of mind." The site also provides regular updates on district news and events through a dynamic homepage and interactive calendar.
