Johnnie Matthews, 42, has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old woman in Chicago. According to the Chicago Police Department, Matthews, a resident of the 1500 block of W. Warren in Chicago, Illinois, now faces one felony count of first-degree murder and one felony count of illegally possessing a weapon.
The incident, which took place several hours before Matthews' arrest early morning on Thursday, occurred in the same 1500 block of W. Warren in the city's 12th District; Matthews was apprehended in the 2400 block of W. Belmont after being identified as the suspect. The female victim, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly shot and killed by Matthews whose motive remains a subject. No additional information is available at this time.
Matthews is scheduled for a detention hearing at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California today.
