This strategy is designed to streamline enforcement and allow for Individual Recognizance Bonds, better known as I-Bonds, to be processed right at the patrol site. The focus of these patrols isn't limited to DUIs; safety belt, insurance, and vehicle condition violations are also under scrutiny, as the recent DUI Saturation Patrol in the 18th (Near North) District demonstrated, an effort that led to a total of 39 citations across a variety of offenses.

There were no arrests for Driving Under the Influence, but there were 6 citations for unsafe vehicle violations, 4 for insurance violations, 8 for seat belt infractions, 1 for driving without a license, 10 for speeding, 1 for distracted driving related to cellphone use, and 9 for other traffic violations according to the Chicago Police Department's announcement. Though the numbers indicate a variety of offenses, DUIs interestingly did not make the list that weekend.
