Chicago authorities are on an active hunt for three individuals linked to a violent robbery on a Red Line train, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. The incident, which unfolded in the early hours of January 2nd, began with a passenger's request for the trio to extinguish their cigarettes; this simple plea for clean air turned into a scene of aggression and theft, according to the police.
The confrontation occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the 100 block of West 69th Street during which the patron was subjected to punches to the face and body. The suspects also took off with his bag containing valuable items such as his wallet, ID, and credit cards. The assault continued as the victim tried to exit the train moving onto the platform, the assailants furthered their attack before scurrying off.
In an attempt to track down the assailants, the Chicago Police Department has released descriptions of the three suspects: one was seen wearing a black coat with a green vest, a second donned a dark blue coat with a brown shirt, and the third suspect was noted for sporting a blue coat and greenish headphones.
