
Trevon Smith, an 18-year-old from the 3100 block of W. Douglas in Chicago, Illinois, now faces charges in the murder of a 19-year-old female. According to Chicago Police Department's release, Smith was arrested after being identified as the gunman in a shooting that took place on January 16, 2025.
The incident occurred approximately 15 minutes before Smith's arrest at 6:10 p.m., in the 2000 block of W. 47th St. in the 9th District. The young woman, whose identity has yet to be publicly released, was fatally shot, prompting police to quickly move to apprehend the accused. Smith now faces one felony count of first-degree murder. The suspect was taken into custody in the 4800 block of S. Seeley and has now been officially charged.
Following the arrest, Smith appeared for a detention hearing on January 19, 2025, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. Details surrounding the motives or circumstances that led to the shooting are still under wraps as authorities continue to investigate the harrowing event. The Chicago Police Department has yet to comment further, stating that no additional information is available at this time.
