
The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert for the Edgewater area within the 24th District, Rogers Park, following a series of burglaries targeting small businesses. According to the notice, an individual forcibly entered the establishments by smashing windows with a screwdriver, then proceeded to remove money from cash registers and office areas.
The incidents occurred at various locations, with the first reported on the 1100 block of West Granville on January 3 at 00:35 A.M. The following incidents were at the 6200 block of North Broadway between January 8 and 9, from 10:00 P.M to 6:00 A.M., and the 1200 block of West Devon on January 9 at 04:25 A.M. Police are actively seeking to directly engage with those who can identify the person responsible for these crimes. They urge if approached by a potential witness, one should to immediately gather contact information.
The suspect has been described as a male, Black, dressed in all black with a coat featuring a fur-lined hood and brown boots. The Chicago Police Department has released a photo of the alleged offender in hopes that community members will come forward with any pertinent information.
