
A recent incident of domestic violence in Coral Springs has led to the arrest of a woman for aggravated battery. Stephanie Schmidt, 33, is accused of hitting her boyfriend with a baseball bat over claims of infidelity. The altercation took place in the early hours of Jan. 3, in a business parking lot at 11000 Wiles Road, reported by TAPinto Coral Springs.
The dispute began after Schmidt searched through her boyfriend's phone and confronted him about the suspected cheating. After being locked out of the vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, during an argument with her boyfriend, Schmidt started kicking and punching the SUV and even tore off its license plate, bleeding badly from a head wound which the police found the boyfriend in the parking lot. According to Coral Springs Talk, Schmidt escalated the confrontation by striking her boyfriend with a baseball bat from the vehicle, which resulted in a severe head cut for the boyfriend.
When the Coral Springs Police Department arrived, officers found Schmidt and her boyfriend involved in the incident. Schmidt had minor abrasions on her hands and face and claimed they were caused by the victim hitting her. Her boyfriend denied hitting her and suggested she may have injured herself while punching the truck. The victim provided video footage of the altercation, which showed Schmidt admitting to retrieving a baseball bat and hitting her boyfriend after he exited the SUV to stop her from damaging the vehicle.
Schmidt was taken into custody and later released on a $2,500 bond.
