The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert for residents of the Bronzeville and Hyde Park neighborhoods following a string of recent robberies. The most recent of which took place on the 5500 block of south Lake Park Ave. on January 13, 2025, at around 5:30 P.M.

Descriptions of one of the offenders have been released to the public. Notably, he is identified as an African American male, anywhere between the ages of 16 and 25. In the hopes of apprehending the suspect(s), authorities urge anyone with information or who witnesses suspicious activities to come forward immediately and contact law enforcement.

To better ensure personal safety, the community alert advises residents to always be conscious of their surroundings and to remember any unique characteristics of potential assailants. Should anyone find themselves in a confrontation, the recommendation is to stay calm and never chase after a fleeing perpetrator. Victims or witnesses should "Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible," as stressed in the police notification.
