Nashville is set to buzz with the sounds of a homegrown heroine as Dolly Parton reveals plans to debut her musical "Dolly: An Original Musical" at Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts this summer.
According to WKRN, preview performances are set to start on July 18, leading up to an opening night on August 8, with the final curtain call on August 17. Tickets for this much-anticipated personal retrospective, with prices starting at $40, are already on sale.
The musical promises a deep dive into Parton's life, woven with some of her greatest hits and new songs specially written for the show. Having Bartlett Sher, a Tony Award winner, at the helm as director only amplifies the project's prestige. Parton, born and raised in Tennessee, told Deadline, "I am Tennessee born and raised, and Nashville has been my musical home for over 60 years.” Parton added, “So, this is the right and perfect place to present the world premiere of my life story as a musical. Right here in Nashville, at the beautiful Belmont University’s Fisher Center"
