Early this morning, a vehicle crashed into a canal in Davie, according to authorities. The incident, reported by Local 10, occurred in the 5100 block of Orange Drive, with the car entirely submerged by the time Sky 10 flew over the scene at around 7:15 a.m.
The driver, after losing control of the car and striking a concrete barrier near the canal, continued into the water where they managed to escape the vehicle unaided. As the vehicle took its unexpected dive, efforts for removal began, with one eastbound lane of Orange Drive being obstructed by authorities, according to Davie police statements.
No injuries were reported subsequent to the car plunging into the canal. The scene, captured by 7Skyforce, showed crews preparing to extract the car from the depths of the murky waters. WSVN noted that the situation didn't necessitate a rescue team, as the driver was able to self-extricate.
Police have engaged in an ongoing investigation into the crash's cause. They have yet to release details on how exactly the driver lost control leading to the submersion, or the identity of the driver.
