A fatal collision earlier today near the Sacramento International Airport has claimed the life of an elderly Sacramento man. CBS News Sacramento reports that the crash occurred around 1 a.m. at the Airport Boulevard off-ramp, involving a Ford F-350 pickup and a GMC Yukon SUV.
The 87-year-old driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver, a 32-year-old Yuba City man, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. According to the KCRA, emergency services responded swiftly to the scene on the northbound Interstate 5 offramp for Airport Boulevard. Driving under the influence is not suspected by California Highway Patrol in the incident, swerving through a chain-link fence before collision.
Details regarding the cause of the crash are limited, but the Sacramento Fire Department confirmed the involvement of multiple vehicles and the death of an 87-year-old, indicating the severity of the incident. Traffic on the ramp remained open throughout the investigation, as noted by ABC10.
