Susan Figuerido, a 73-year-old woman from Falmouth, was sentenced to two years in prison for embezzling over $1.3 million from the flooring company where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release and pay restitution of $1,714,921.01, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office

From June 2015 to February 2023, Figuerido embezzled $1.3 million from her employer by writing checks to herself and hiding the transactions in the accounting system. She also failed to report the stolen money on her tax returns, causing a tax loss of $353,000. In October 2024, she pleaded guilty to wire fraud and filing a false tax return, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

U.S. Attorney Joshua S. The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen A. Kearney, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
