A fatal collision that occurred in Gary, Indiana on Monday evening has left one woman dead and another seriously injured. According to ABC7 Chicago, the accident happened around 5:52 pm at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Johnson Street.
Upon their arrival, Gary police officers discovered two cars had collided head-on. The impact severely damaged both vehicles and trapped their drivers, prompting a response from the Gary Fire Department to extricate the injured parties. A 24-year-old woman was subsequently transported to the hospital, but the extent of her injuries remains undisclosed by officials. However, a 37-year-old woman, identified as Tiffany Lauren Nickels, a resident of Portage, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The WGN-TV report confirmed the unfortunate fatality and added that the surviving victim, a 24-year-old woman from Gary, was taken to Methodist Northlake Hospital. The specifics of her condition have not been released.
