A former staff member of Antioch High School has been arrested and charged on multiple counts of solicitation and sex crimes involving a minor. Clarence Davis II, 35, worked as an assistant basketball coach and campus support staff, and has faced allegations of engaging in inappropriate communications with a 14-year-old student via Instagram.
Details emerged after the Metro Nashville Police Department conducted an investigation, which was instigated when a school resource officer was informed of these allegations on January 14, as mentioned in a WKRN report. Following this, Davis was promptly suspended from his duties at the high school. Adding to his woes, the investigation uncovered that he had advised the minor to maintain their conversations in secrecy, an egregious misuse of his position of trust.
The nature of these messages, described as "sexually related comments" by MNPS spokesman Sean Braisted, did not include allegations of physical contact, though they were enough to substantiate charges and lead to Davis' termination, confirmed WSMV.
Davis now faces 19 counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as reported by FOX 17. According to the official statements, all of the charges brought against Davis are connected to his engagement with this single victim.
