The Franklin Police Department's FLEX Unit has made its presence felt this holiday season with a substantial crackdown on retail theft. As reported today, the operation dubbed "Not in Our Mall" led to 50 arrests across various shopping centers, including Cool Springs Galleria. This six-week effort, which commenced on November 19, 2024, also culminated in the recovery of approximately $9,500 worth of merchandise. The operation, running through the bustling shopping period, aimed to curtail the annual upsurge in retail crimes.
Involved in making the numerous arrests, officers of the FLEX unit were able to retrieve a substantial amount of stolen goods, watching over the throngs of shoppers that flood the malls during the festive months. As per the City of Franklin's official website, Police Chief Deb Faulkner lauded the proactive measures taken by her team. "I am proud of the efforts our FLEX Unit put into this initiative," she said, expressing gratitude towards the retail community for their cooperation.
This annual surge in thefts often sees law enforcement stepping up their game to protect retailers and consumers alike. It is a reminder, as Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner states, that even with the holiday season now in the rearview, those looking to take advantage of the commercial bustle with larcenous intent will face ramifications. "Although the holiday shopping season may now be behind us, let me once again assure those who want to come in our city and steal, that we will catch you and put you behind bars," said Faulkner, as cited by the City of Franklin.
