Last Friday, a group of teenagers found their exploits abruptly halted by the tenacious efforts of the Violent Crimes Division detectives. Six minors, in cohorts with elements signaling a troubling narrative of juvenile delinquency, were detained in connection with a series of crimes involving firearm thefts and vehicle burglaries. It was a vigilant neighbor's tip that set the takedown in motion; detectives secured the details of a Hyundai Elantra seen in Madison with an all too conspicuous rifle brandished from within. The vehicle, identified as stolen, was later discovered on the premises of Neely’s Bend Elementary School, according to MNPD media release.

Upon canvassing the adjacent vicinity, authorities promptly apprehended the five male occupants—three aged 15 and another duo barely touching 14. Each youth found not far from the parked Elantra, soon had their day worsened by the discovery of a stolen pistol inside the car, which had vanished from Timberlake Circle, Antioch the night prior. In a turn of events, the ensuing interrogations unfurled their putative alliance in a spate of crimes that stained recent weeks.

Five teenagers admitted to their involvement in additional thefts from firearm dealers during questioning by detectives. The group, facing charges in Juvenile Court for offenses including motor vehicle theft, possession of a handgun, and carrying guns on school grounds, now faces the consequences of their actions at a young age.

A 13-year-old, already arrested on December 9, became the latest individual involved in the case. He was found with nine others linked to car thefts. After a search of his home, detectives recovered two more stolen firearms. Like the others, he confessed to taking part in a smash-and-grab theft at Lions Vapor Smoke Shop, where stolen items were later found in his bedroom, as reported by the Nashville Police Department.

The six youths now face additional charges in Juvenile Court, including burglary for the 13-year-old. More charges are expected and the full extent of their criminal activities may soon come to light.
