Yesterday, firefighters responded to a house fire in Emerald Lake Hills. They successfully pulled two people and one animal from the inferno. The individuals were trapped inside the residence in this unincorporated area of San Mateo County when the fiery grip took hold, according to a social media post from the CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit.
Upon their arrival, the gravity of the situation compelled the Incident Commander to request a second alarm, scaling up the response to the urgent needs of those trapped. "Firefighters successfully rescued those inside, bringing out those patients with minor injuries," the post from CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit detailed. The firefighting teams quickly knocked down the fire, preventing it from reaching the surrounding vegetation or nearby homes. Two individuals received transport to the hospital to undergo evaluation following the incident.
Firefighting and rescue units from CAL FIRE, San Mateo County Fire, Redwood City Fire Department, Woodside Fire Protection District, Menlo Park Fire Protection District, San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department, and others converged on the scene. They were supported by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, American Medical Response, and PG&E. The cause of this fire is under investigation.
