A dispute in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood escalated into violence on Wednesday afternoon, leaving a 59-year-old man critically wounded from a stabbing. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the altercation took place around 2:40 p.m. on the 1400 block of North Sedgwick Street, and the victim was subsequently hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The attack, which police say involved a sharp object, was confirmed by ABC7 Chicago as occurring approximately at 2:38 p.m. at the same location. With a sharp object, a suspect hit the man and then fled the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and thus far, no arrests have been made. The identity of the suspect, as well as the motive behind the confrontation, remain unclear.
