A man has died, and two others, including a toddler, were injured in a shooting yesterday morning in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood. The San Francisco Fire Department said the incident occurred on the 1000 block of Tompkins Avenue, near the Alemany Farmers Market.

Arriving at the scene around 8:12 a.m., law enforcement and fire crews discovered a woman with gunshot wounds and a deceased man in a home, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. The woman was quickly transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Simultaneously, advised about a toddler who had also been shot, the child has been transported to a local hospital presenting non-life-threatening injuries.

The man who lost his life in the tragic incident was identified as 24-year-old Antoine Thomas. As per the San Francisco Chronicle, Anthony Thomas, a man at the scene, revealed himself as the youth football coach's father. "But I didn't make it in time," Anthony Thomas said, sharing the heartbreaking fact that he received the devastating news of his son's passing while trying to reach their home after a plea from his son's girlfriend, who also was injured in the incident.

Officer Eve Laokwansa of the San Francisco police detailed that officers found a woman and a man with gunshot wounds upon responding. Anthony Thomas, amidst his sorrow, marked his birthday with the loss of his son, and he shared with CBS San Francisco a dire warning against violence, saying, "So I just tell people just stay away from guns and just try to work out your problems the best way you can. And I have to bury my son, which I shouldn't have to do."

According to officials, the toddler involved in the incident was the grandson of Anthony Thomas and had been taken to the hospital by Thomas's daughter after the shooting.
