Knife River's construction team is paving the way for the next stage of the Foothill Road project, entering Phase 3 from Normil Terrace to Cedar Links Drive, as drivers must brace for more detours and delays. According to the City of Medford's official announcement, Foothill Road continues to be off-limits for through traffic at both McAndrews Road and Cedar Links Drive, with only local Normil Terrace inhabitants having access to the newly paved section off McAndrews Road.
Meanwhile, construction crews, battling against both the clock and the elements, are also simultaneously laying down a 24-inch waterline in Stage 4, stretching from Delta Waters to Cedar Links Drive – traffic near the Cedar Links Drive and Foothill Road intersection might stagnate for up to 20 minutes due to flagger-controlled management. If the weather gods play nice and other unpredictable variables hold steady, the anticipations for Foothill Road, a critical artery from McAndrews to Cedar Links Drive, is pegged to reopen by mid-February 2025.
The Foothill Road project isn't just a new slab of asphalt; when it concludes in late 2026, it will deliver a thoroughfare reimagined and reborn - featuring two lanes for each direction of travel, dedicated turn lanes, pedestrian sidewalks, bike lanes, and modern street lighting to bolster safety and accessibility. The city's latest construction schedule and more detailed information can be found at the Foothill Road Project's dedicated website, with the caveat that these are subject to alteration based on unforeseen changes.
