The annual Capital One Orange Bowl is welcoming football fans once again at the Hard Rock Stadium, turning the sports arena into a bustling hub today. Ahead of the festivities, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) has announced they will undertake a comprehensive security sweep to ensure the safety of the community and visitors alike. "It is our goal to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for everyone attending the game," said the MDSO in a statement.
Ensuring all bases are covered, the MDSO K-9 units will be the chief agents in the security operation. Notably, the media has received an invitation to observe the K-9 units in action. The MDSO Press Affair Office urges media personnel wishing to witness the operation to gather at Gate 8, precisely at 10:00 a.m. However, post-initiation of the sweep at 10:00 a.m., no media personnel will be allowed to fully accompany on the premises, making punctuality paramount.
The MDSO has clarified the specifics of the event with the intent to keep the public informed and engaged in the security aspect of such a significant public event. The security sweep will occur today, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hard Rock Stadium located at 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens, FL 33056. The demonstration of the K-9 units' skill set not only serves as reassurance to the public but also exhibits the preparedness and proficiency of the law enforcement agencies responsible for their safety.
Community members and sports enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the kickoff of the Capital One Orange Bowl, with security a top priority for all involved. The MDSO affirms this vigilance and has, therefore, chosen to closely involve the media in showcasing their security protocols. By opening the doors an hour beforehand to the press, the Sheriff's Office aims to transparently communicate their commitment to safety and to also let the public know they have been duly trained to counter and manage any potential threat.
