Over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office initiated a safety crackdown targeting illegal ATV, motorcycle, and dirt-bike activities. This increased enforcement, part of the department's safety campaign, began last Friday and concluded yesterday, leading to numerous arrests and seizures.

According to a press release from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, the mobilization of local law enforcement was notably effective, resulting in the arrest of 68 individuals and the impoundment of 9 firearms and 22 vehicles, with 163 citations doled out throughout the county, officials have also pointed out the recovery of 13 stolen vehicles.

The scope of the operation appears to be a response to the ongoing issues associated with the unlawful use of off-road vehicles on public roads, which often correspond to spikes in unsafe behaviors during holiday weekends.
