Little Havana faced an unfortunate incident late Saturday night that caused significant damage to two local businesses. NBC Miami reports that Miami Fire Rescue teams responded after midnight to a fire in the 1400 block of SW 6th Street, where heavy smoke was seen coming from a commercial building.
Firefighters discovered a dumpster on fire at the rear of the building. The fire had spread into the attic space of an adjacent business. A thorough search confirmed that no one was inside either of the affected businesses, which were empty at the time. Despite hazards like propane tanks and a partial roof collapse, no injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. According to WSVN, one of the businesses, a mini market, suffered significant smoke damage and remains closed. The cause of the fire is under investigation by authorities.
