After an extensive multi-agency search operation in Giles County, a missing woman was located and is now receiving medical attention. The woman's plight began when a 911 call was made from Marvin Hughes Road around 7 p.m. on Friday night, which prompted an immediate response from local emergency services, WSMV reported.
The initial deployment involved the Giles County Sheriff's Department, who then sought assistance from the Giles County Office of Emergency Management, employing the use of an Unmanned Aerial System with thermal imaging capabilities, as per the official Giles County Emergency Services Facebook post. Despite these efforts and the addition of K-9 units provided by both Maury Regional Hospital and volunteer K-9 teams from Giles OEM, difficult terrain led first responders to temporarily pause the search until the safety of daylight could aid their efforts.
The search operation resumed the next morning with amplified resources including Giles County EMS, Fire and Rescue, Maury County OEM, the City of Lawrenceburg Fire Department UAS Team, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) Middle District Coordinator, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Aviation Unit, according to WKRN's coverage. Furthermore, Oak Grove Baptist Church offered its facilities as a warm space for volunteers providing a crucial staging ground to rest and regroup as the search pressed on.
Ultimately, the woman, known as Mrs. Toone, was located alive and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for evaluation. "Giles OEM extends its heartfelt gratitude to all agencies and personnel who contributed to this successful operation the ability of multiple agencies to work seamlessly together highlights the strength of our community and our commitment to protecting lives," Giles County Emergency Services expressed in a statement reported by WSMV. This cooperative endeavor not only showcased the effective integration of varied emergency services but also underlined a community's profound dedication to the welfare of its members.
