A fatal collision on Monday afternoon claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Murfreesboro Pike. The accident, which occurred near the intersection with Pineway Drive around 2:20 p.m., involved a Buick Envision and a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 49-year-old motorcyclist Charles Cromwell was pronounced dead after being swiftly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The initial investigation suggests that the Buick was making a left turn when it was struck by the motorcycle. Cromwell was subsequently separated from his bike upon impact. The aftermath of the crash had left to quickly contend with a chaotic scene as the Buick continued into a gas station parking lot and collided with a light pole. Both drivers, at the time, showed no signs of impairment and the 71-year-old Buick driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.
While details are still emerging, the Metropolitan Police have not indicated any charges or citations will be issued. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic loss of life on the eve of the year's end.
