The manhunt for Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, a 34-year-old Mountain View barber, continues after he was charged with a series of sexual assaults and kidnappings. Sarceno Orla, who initially posted a $250,000 bail in late August 2024, failed to appear for a subsequent court hearing and became a fugitive. This has since escalated into a broader investigation with historical implications going back to 2018 or possibly earlier, Hoodline reports.

According to an amended indictment filed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney, Sarceno Orla is now facing 55 counts, including charges of sexual assault, sexual battery, administering an intoxicating agent, and, more troubling, charges related to knowingly exposing victims to HIV. Authorities are urgently appealing to any additional victims to come forward, including urging them to contact the Mountain View Police Department or to reach out to detectives Lauren Riffel or Guillermo de Lira if they suspect they have been victimized or get tested for sexually transmitted diseases, as per CBS News Bay Area.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's office has expressed a belief that the actual number of victims may exceed the 25 currently listed, with evidence from electronic devices suggesting the possibility of assaults against at least 20 men, Mercury News states. Following the widespread publicizing of the case, more individuals have come forward, bringing the charges to include 51 additional felonies and four misdemeanors, covering allegations from sexual assault to kidnapping.
