Early Friday, a startling discovery was made when a person was found dead inside a car that was stopped at an intersection on Shady Grove Road in Montgomery County, Maryland. This prompted police to close down a part of the major road for an investigation into the circumstance of the death, as NBC Washington reported.
The incident took place around 3:15 a.m. when Montgomery County police officers on patrol happened upon a white BMW at a standstill in the road, during their routine patrol and upon checking, they discovered the deceased body inside the car, which then coursed them to summon detectives to the scene, police said they are looking into whether there was any footage captured by nearby cameras that could shed light on the matter.
Meanwhile, according to a FOX 5 DC source, officers and detectives are actively scouring for witnesses or video evidence that might elucidate the events leading to the death, with some officers seen canvassing the area near Courtyard Rockville. Carlos Cortes of the Montgomery County Police Department indicated that the investigation could escalate if they discern a criminal element in the case stating, "At this point this is a death investigation, Our detectives are on scene trying to determine if there is a criminal element that will make this into a homicide investigation."
