Nashville Man Arrested in Mt. Juliet After License Plate Reader Detects Stolen Plate, Suspected Felon Caught with Weapons and DrugsSource: Mt. Juliet Police Department

A Nashville man was apprehended after a high-tech license plate reading system tipped off the Mt. Juliet Police Department to a vehicle with a stolen plate. The notification from the so-called Guardian Shield LPR system, came last night, indicating the presence of a Nissan entering Mt. Juliet from Nashville on Central Pike with a reported stolen license plate, as reported by WSMV.

In response, Mt. Juliet officers moved swiftly to locate and pull over the car in question. The operation led to the arrest of the driver, a 53-year-old man from Nashville, whom police found to be a convicted felon, and in his possession was a handgun, methamphetamine, and a suspended driver's license. His passenger, a 27-year-old woman also from Nashville, was discovered with methamphetamine as well, however, it remains unclear if she was taken into custody.

The usage of the LPR system in Mt. Juliet has been a point of pride for law enforcement, aiming to intercept criminal activities. "We're proud to see our investment in advanced technology making a real difference in keeping Mt. Juliet safe by detecting criminal activity before it takes root," affirmed the police department on social media, a sentiment echoed by a report from WKRN. Mt. Juliet, as per the police, maintains the lowest crime rate for combined crimes against persons and property in comparison to the surrounding Middle Tennessee communities.
