The Nashville community has been shaken by a series of disturbing incidents, which have led to the arrest of a local man accused of vandalism and harassment. Charles Maguire, 49, is facing charges for spray painting a swastika on the Nashville Public Library's Green Hills branch door and leaving a string of harassing phone messages at Green Hills Community Church during the holiday season.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Maguire was previously asked to vacate the library before the act of vandalism occurred on December 14. Following this, the church received troubling voicemails on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and December 30. The nature of these messages has not been released but were severe enough to quickly involve law enforcement.
This is not Maguire's first encounter with the law. He was previously arrested on November 30 for similar offenses, as detailed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. These include leaving harassing messages at the same church and committing acts of vandalism against the Mental Health Cooperative, which involved pouring a substance, believed to be urine, through a window slot. After posting a $3,000 bond for the initial charges, he was released. Following the recent allegations, Maguire's bond has been set at $2,000 by a judicial commissioner.
