A violent confrontation in Chicago's Near West Side has resulted in critical injuries and an arrest, as two men's dispute escalated into a stabbing late Sunday night. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in an apartment hallway located on the 2000 block of West Jackson Boulevard, where a quarrel between a 41-year-old man and a 56-year-old man turned perilous, the older individual allegedly stabbing the younger in the neck and back before departing the scene.

Police were called to the scene and subsequently located the 56-year-old suspect who was arrested and also treated for a minor injury. Area Three detectives are examining the details surrounding the case.

The victim was swiftly transported to Stroger Hospital where he was reported to be in critical condition. FOX 32 Chicago stated that medical staff at the hospital are providing care with hopes of stabilizing his condition.

So far, no charges have been announced by law enforcement.
